The MC2 System device, developed exclusively in Composit Italia’s technical labs, is designed to exploit the capacity of certain materials to absorb and release heat in a controlled way, on a continual and cyclical basis.
The MC2 System device introduces an entirely new way of using the thermodynamic properties of phase-change materials with a high latent heat of fusion at low temperatures, reducing intervention times for air conditioning systems in areas containing technical equipment. It offers advantages in terms of reducing the costs associated with electricity consumption as well as reducing temperature peaks.
The MC2 System device has its own control system (PLC), which regulates internal ventilator activation and nozzle opening in relation to the PCM material’s state of fusion or solidification, as well as the temperature inside the shelter, in the external environment and inside the device itself.
The first main advantage MC2 offers is a reduction in electrical energy costs for running air conditioning systems. Installing the right sized MC2 system could result in savings of over 30%. These savings have been verified by tests carried out on the MC2 System device.
The second benefit of the MC2 System is the thermal inertia of the system itself, making it possible to significantly limit temperature peaks, increasing the reliability of the technological systems housed in the shelter. Being an almost entirely passive device, the MC2 System does not require frequent or complex maintenance work. It also reduces the amount of necessary maintenance to air conditioning systems, by limiting their use.
